If ever a holed coin can be called choice, this one can! Original uncleaned surfaces with nice color. Strong details–I would argue at least Good rather than NGC’s AG. Bold date! Yes, it was holed, and we know it was contemporary to its circulation as evidenced by the wear pattern around the puncture. Why? Was it strung with other money to prevent loss? Thank goodness if so, enabling us to enjoy it some 230 years later. All in all, a charming and affordable example of our nation’s first dime! JR-1, R-3.
